Engineer in Training
Northern Utility Services is looking for a Full-Time Engineer in Training. This position is an entry-level position for graduate engineers recently entering the work force (0-2 years of experience). Incumbent will perform professional civil engineering and administrative work on a variety of water and wastewater utility programs and projects Work is performed independently within established policies, procedures, guidelines and professional standards. Work assignments are received orally and in writing. Work is reviewed through observation, conferences, reports, and by results obtained. Performs other work as assigned.
Utility Equipment Operator / Laborer
Installs, maintains, and repairs water/wastewater utility lines and mains; locates water lines, sewer lines, and other utilities using line locating equipment; excavates around utility lines, cables, gas mains, and service lines; operates tapping machine to connect services into main lines; digs trench lines using backhoe; installs water lines; extends existing water lines for services; repairs leaks on water mains and service lines to meters; flushes water lines and mains; repairs water line leaks; performs flow tests, pressure tests, or chlorination tests; assembles hydrants, valves, meters, and backflow devices; installs fire hydrants, Duties require manual labor in support of the construction and maintenance of water and sewer systems. Inspects and maintains assigned equipment; check oil, perform basic service tasks; report malfunctions; wash and fuel equipment; perform safety inspections of assigned equipment.
Installs, maintains, and repairs water/wastewater utility lines and mains. Operate equipment including hand tools to complete the project as assigned. Provide leadership and supervision for your assigned crew. Schedule, coordinate and manage the activities of crew members and equipment. Maintain a safe working environment and proactively address potential hazards. Understand and interpret project drawings and documents and identify changes in site conditions as they arise. Obtain all of the necessary licenses, permits, and materials for the job. Ensure all work quality related to each project and assume full responsibility for its standard and timeliness. Coordinate and delegate daily tasks to crew. Train new hires and trainees to learn the trade. Drive, haul, and/or operate equipment to/from job sites to assist crews in completion of work. Inspects and maintains assigned equipment; check oil, perform service tasks; report malfunctions; wash and fuel equipment; perform safety inspections of assigned equipment. Report out daily on project status to management.
